SI Media Sales Director on the Evolution of Newsrooms interviewed for YourStoryz

How Mobile Technology is Revolutionizing Content Creation

Alberto Panozzo, Sales Director of SI Media, is passionate about the evolving landscape of content creation, especially in newsroom environments. Representing an Italian company with over 40 years of expertise in automation, MAM, and newsroom solutions, Panozzo emphasizes that SI Media is at the forefront of innovation in Italy’s northeast.

Embracing Change and Innovation

Over the years, SI Media has witnessed a profound shift in how news and media are produced and consumed. The rise of smartphones has significantly reshaped this environment. What once required traditional cameras and elaborate production setups is now transitioning toward mobile-centric workflows, offering flexibility and immediacy that was previously unattainable.

Impact of Smartphones on Content Creation

The influence of smartphones has been a game-changer in newsrooms. Journalists now capture, edit, and share content directly from their mobile devices, transforming how stories are told. Panozzo notes that even younger generations, including his own daughters, are embracing mobile content creation, underscoring the growing role that smartphones play in the media ecosystem.

The Mobile-Centric Newsroom of Tomorrow

Looking ahead, the future of newsroom operations will undoubtedly be centered around mobile technology. Journalists increasingly rely on smartphones to capture news on the go, while newsrooms are adapting to manage and distribute this mobile-driven content. SI Media is not just observing this trend—they are leading it by integrating cutting-edge mobile solutions into their portfolio, ensuring that their clients are equipped to meet the challenges of modern journalism.

Meeting Customer Needs and Embracing Innovation

As a company dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of its customers, SI Media recognizes the importance of embracing these technological advancements. Panozzo is confident that by prioritizing mobile-driven content creation and distribution, SI Media will continue to shape the future of newsroom environments.

Embracing Mobile Revolution

In conclusion, the growing influence of smartphones represents a significant shift in how content is produced and distributed. With a commitment to innovation, SI Media stands ready to support their customers through this transformation, ensuring that the newsrooms of tomorrow are prepared to meet the demands of a mobile-centric world.

The Gimble every content creator needs

Video made by: Chris Video created for: YourStoryz / IBC 2024

Excited to share that at the Hohem booth in IBC, we’re exploring bigger gimbals for mirrorless cameras, microphones, and more! Our multi-phone gimbals were just the start. With features like AI tracking and different modes like POV and Vortex, the creative possibilities are endless. Can’t wait to showcase how it’s revolutionizing my content creation process!

#Hohem #IBC #ContentCreation #Gimbals #Innovation

Annie Glaudane at the Hohem Booth is their content creator. Annie: ‘We have a beautiful booth at IBC and I’m their content creator and an actress in their videos.’ The company is about mostly multi-phone gimbals, but also testing their ground in bigger gimbals for mirrorless cameras and microphones, etc.

Annie:’That’s usually what I do. It makes my work so much easier because I can make the gimbal just stand wherever and use it as a tripod. It also makes smoother movements with it and also we have an AI tracker so you can always move around and make sure that you’re in the shot no matter what. And it’s going to keep tracking you.’

With this device, you can move freely and ensure you’re always in the frame, even when using the back camera, which is known for its superior quality. There are numerous creative ways to make use of it, and the more you experiment, the more possibilities you’ll discover. It offers various modes, including the popular POV, commonly seen in music videos, and the well-loved (though often overused) Vortex mode that adds a dynamic twist to videos.

One of the standout features is the ability to use the ultra-wide angle effectively with this specific gimbal. By tapping it four times, you can adjust the positioning so it doesn’t interfere with your shot. Additionally, it serves as a power bank, allowing you to charge your phone while filming, making it ideal for on-the-go use. This versatility makes it perfect for a variety of activities, from shooting cooking videos at home and recording dance routines to capturing hiking adventures, thanks to its tracking capabilities.

MediaKind on Mobile content

Exciting insights from Chris, Head of Marketing at MediaKind, a leading software development house building video software infrastructure for global operators and iconic sports brands. At IBC, we are focused on connecting with existing and new customers, showcasing our innovative solutions. Diversifying our customer base and embracing content creation to engage with audiences is key for our growth. #MediaKind #VideoSoftware #Innovation

‘So if you look at a lot of our customers, a lot of our customers are D2C streamers, right? So they engage with fans, they engage with their audience primarily through applications. So for us that content creation piece is actually something really interesting. We ourselves don’t facilitate that, but we work with companies who would do that as part of an application, and I think it’s really powerful. If we look at that whole, if you like, crowdsourcing of content and create a market, making our applications and our broadcast-grade solutions better adopted by that audience really helps with our scale. And I think it’s cool getting everyone’s opinions, crowdsourcing that information and what people think about an event can be really powerful for a lot of our customers.’

Robotics and mobile video

Video made by: Eke Visser Video created for: YourStoryz / IBC 2024

Exciting things happening at Dell Technologies booth! As Director of Sales and Marketing at Sisu Cinema Robotics, I’m showcasing how technology boosts filmmaking workflows. Let’s explore a future with robotics in content creation. AI’s potential sparks a discussion too! 🎥🤖 #Filmmaking #Technology #Innovation

‘And I think that, in my opinion, robotics is actually going to be a part of that in the future, where content creators will be able to use robots, something maybe smaller than this, that can hold a phone, that will allow them to create even more dynamic content than just a static, locked-off phone can get. 3, 2, 1, action! More! Bigger! Bigger! There you go. AI, now that’s a great question. Infusing AI into mobile content creation is, it’s a slippery slope. I think that there needs to be regulation around that, but I think that using AI in the right way can really enhance what people are able to do, both in the commercial space but also in the content creation space, as long as it’s done responsibly.’

Better content by filming with mobile phones

Video made by: Eke Visser Video created for: YourStoryz / IBC 2024

When asked about mobile journalism, Adam is very clear on the benefits.
So it’s a brilliant way of sending people out into the field and getting content from where you wouldn’t normally get it. Also, people are much nicer with mobile phones because if you go in with a big camera setup and a big boom, people get a bit afraid of it. But if you point a phone at them, then they’re much more relaxed. So you actually get better footage and better content as well.’
